Chairman Lee on October's Employment Numbers
Today, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee Mike Lee (R-UT) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Labor Department October 2019 jobs report:
“The American economy continues to thrive and reach new milestones. Payroll numbers beat expectations with 128,000 jobs added over the month of October. Other labor market measures continue to break recent records. The unemployment rate remains near a 50-year low at 3.6%. The unemployment rate for African Americans has reached another record low. The employment-to-population ratio for prime age workers continues to rise, ticking up to 80.3% in October. The employment-to-population ratio for prime age women rose to 74.2%, a rate not surpassed since early 2001."
